Race Day FAQs :)

Here’s our top list of FAQs for all your athletes getting ready for one of this weekend’s BIG races. Read through so you know what’s going on.

FAQs

Do I need to pre-register?

YES! All athletes must be registered before race day. There is no way to register on Saturday morning/day of the race.

Will there be gear/bag drop facilities?

Yes at Albert Park, valuables left at owners risk

What time do I have to be there?

To be safe, plan on being at the Race Start line at Albert Park Stadium 15mins before your race start time, ready to run! If you plan on changing at event start. come earlier 😉

Where are the water stations?

Water and/Powerade (marathon runners only) available approximately every 2.5km on the course

Will I get a finishers medal?

Finishers medals for marathon and half marathon finishers only

Will I get a t-shirt?

T-shirts included in international race entry fees only. Available to purchase for $30FJD for others.

Where are the toilets?

The Fiji Museum, Albert Park Stadium and just inside the top gate at Thurston Gardens has clean toilets and changing facilities that will be free for the public to use from 4am to 2pm on race day

Post-Race Refreshments?

Bu (Fijian green coconut) and after race fruit are also going to be directly after the finishing chutes.

Are there official pacers/pace groups?

No.

Am I allowed to wear head phones while running or walking?

We recommend for reasons of safety that you don’t wear an audio device. However, these devices are not prohibited.

What time is prize giving?

Dependent on finish times; approximately 9.30am.

Can I use a Water Pack / Vest?

Yes.

Can I run in Fancy Dress?

Yes.

What are the cut-off times?

There is no official cut off time; however the roads will reopen at 12pm and participants must move to the side of the road/pavement to finish.

Where can I get my official time?

All results will be live online and updated every minute and can be found here: https://results.sporthive.com/for/suva-marathon

Where can I pay my registration fees?

You can pay for your race when you collect your bib number at the Holiday Inn on Friday 26th July 2019 between 12.30pm and 8pm.

How does the timing system work?

Your race number contains an electronic chip. When you run over them our timing mats captures your time. You need to wear your race number on your front and keep it on throughout the race.

Where does the race start?

All the races start at Albert Park pavilion. Please be at the race start at least 15 minutes before the start of your race?

I have my own gels and snacks – where can I leave them?

You can leave them at the Vodafone water station opposite State House. Please ensure they are clearly marked with your name. No responsibility is taken for them by the organisers.

Are there medical staff on hand?

Yes, the Volunteer First Responders and Suva Physio are providing us with emergency response support and physiotherapy on the day. Their team can be found at the start / finish area.

Can I run with my dog?

No, no pets are allowed on the course. Service dogs and guides dogs are permitted.

My child is under 10 – can they run?

No, unfortunately not. Our shortest race is 5km and we do not allow children younger than 10 to compete.

How does the team event work?

The team event involves each runner running 10.55km each (a quarter marathon). These times are added together to get a time for a marathon (42.2km). It is NOT a relay. All runners start together at 7am from Albert Park.

What happens if other members of my team don’t turn up?

You can still run! Your individual time will be recorded but you won’t get a team time unless all 4 runners finish.

What happens if we turn up late?

You can still run! But your time will reflect the time the race started not your actual time.
