Fijiana Rugby team signs up

The Telecom Fijiana team has pledged support for the 2015 Suva Marathon by signing to compete in the annual event.

Team manager Betty Blakelock said they were happy to be part of the marathon which would serve them well in preparation for the Olympic qualifiers in November.

“We’re very happy to be a part of such an event and show our support for the marathon by participating.

“This will help with the preparations we have mapped out as we move towards the Olympic qualifiers in New Zealand in November and we appreciate the organising committee for reaching out to us and asking for our participation.”

Marathon Organising Committee member Liza Perdido Comagon expressed similar sentiments about Fijiana’s involvement.

“We’re very glad to have them on board as the national women’s 7s rugby team. They will greatly boost the visibility of this event and we thank them for coming on board and showing their support.

“The 2015 Suva Marathon is targeting 600 runners, including 100 overseas competitors, to be part of the annual marathon.”

Tipped as the biggest road race in the South Pacific, the 2015 Suva Marathon is scheduled for August 8 and will start and end at My Suva Park in Nasese, Suva.
