NM2020

Congratulations Namosi Marathon 2020 Runners! Don’t stop now – join us at our first Saturday of the month runs!

This time last week we were nervously looking at the weather forecast, hoping that someone was looking out for all of us, and I think they were! On Friday, with many of the volunteers for the last water stations and runners from Ba and elsewhere at Namosi Eco Retreat for the night, I got a message from our sat phone that the stars were out!

It was a beautiful cloudy start to the day and despite the heavy rain that came on later in the morning, generally pretty good running conditions!

A huge vinaka vakalevu to all of you for joining us! And many congratulations to all of you running your first 10km, half or full marathon! You all earned those medals!

And of course, our thanks to the many volunteers and sponsors without whom it would not have been possible – our associate sponsors Munro Leys, Tourism Fiji, Allfreight Logistics and the Fiji Times, our water and hydration partners Island Chill and Powerade, our medical team Volunteer First Responders, our lead cyclists from Takape Bicycling and Petero ‘IronMan’ Manoa, our bike support from Christian and Patrick, our photographers Navneet Narayan (NStudios) and Grahame Stageman, Run and Joy Running Club and Wah Sing, Namosi Secondary School, Gasaudrau Farm, Namosi Eco Retreat, Knox Entertainment, Fiji Chemicals, Pure Fiji, Hot Bread Kitchen, Leleuvia, Holiday Inn, EY, Metro Gym and Sports World.

We’ll be in touch soon with a feedback form as we’re keen to hear what you thought and we’ve also had a few requests to look at how we can best support the runners from Namosi Secondary School going forward.

If you didn’t manage to get across the river to Namosi Eco Retreat last weekend, now that you know where it is, please get in touch with Danny at [email protected] to plan a visit.

Look out for some photos coming up in the next few days in the Fiji Times.

There were so many fantastic moments to share – from the Namosi Secondary School runners winning both 10km races, to the fact that every full and half marathoner that started also finished – something we were not expecting on this course!

If you’ve not yet seen them please see some links below to albums and the provisional results – do let us know if you spot any glaring errors. The timing system didn’t like the rain very much!
