Avikash Lal is making a habit of breaking personal best this July

Avikash Lal, Jet Running Club member from Nadi and Fiji Airways steward is making a habit of breaking personal best this July.

Having returned from winning a gold medal at the Pacific Games half marathon last weekend, he broke another personal best in winning the Island Chill Suva Marathon in 2 hours 47 minutes and 35 seconds on Saturday.

This was the first time for Avikash to take on the challenge of the full marathon distance (42.2km) on home soil, having previously only run a marathon in China.

‘Without god yesterday would have been a bad day for me as it was a shivering cold day. I thank my mom my dad who is also my coach, Mr Proshattom Lal, my employers Fiji Airways, my Jet Runners club, Tifajek Mud Pools, Doctor PEGE, Glen and Bruce, Suva Marathon club for putting on these events and their voluneers, FASANOC, Athletics Fiji who have always supported me.’ said Lal after the win.
